Rescue Mission spread Easter holiday joy by handing out baskets to 1,000 elementary students

Long Beach, California – One thousand students at Roosevelt Elementary School in Long Beach got Easter baskets from the Long Beach Rescue Mission for the holiday.

In an effort to spread joy for the Easter holiday across the community, the Rescue Mission, in collaboration with local volunteers, delivered hand-crafted baskets to the children.

The Easter basket drop-off would not have been made possible without the help of the community who donated supplies, including toys, educational materials, crafts, and snacks. Many local organizations and businesses also took part in the donation effort.

The annual Easter Basket event was held differently this year than in previous years. Rescue Mission staff delivered the baskets directly to the schools so that no child would be missed.

An annual Easter meal for those in need was also held by the Rescue Mission, in addition to the Easter Basket drop-off. “Providing a meal is often the first step to meeting the immediate needs of men, women, and children who are in a state of despair and hopelessness. With your help and generosity, our kitchen serves around 250,000 meals per year,” according to the website of the Rescue Mission.
