LAX expecting 3.5 million passengers this holiday season

Los Angeles, California – The holiday travel season is underway at LAX, and the following weeks are anticipated to be the busiest of the year.

Officials estimate up to 3.5 million passengers will pass through Los Angeles International Airport between Thursday and January 3.

They are expecting the number of passengers to be twice as high as last year, when 1.85 million passengers passed through the airport for the holidays. 4.5 million passengers passed through LAX during the same period in 2019, and this year’s passenger volume is only around 77% of that.

Most likely, December 17, 19, 26, and January 2 will be peak travel days, with 200,000 or more people traveling through LAX.

Masks are mandatory at all LAX facilities, on shuttle buses, and on flights. International passengers aged 2 and older must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than a day before travel.
