Los Angeles father entered a not guilty plea in connection with the death of his son

Long Beach, California – According to court documents, a Los Angeles father has entered a not guilty plea to the murder of his 11-month-old infant in Long Beach last month.

Jeremy Wade, 23, is charged with murder, assault on a child causing death, and false imprisonment by violence against his girlfriend, as well as one misdemeanor count of abuse on a spouse or girlfriend.

Wade was taken into custody on February 9th in the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue at the Scottish Inns Long Beach, according to authorities. Officers were sent to the location for a report regarding domestic violence at approximately 7 a.m.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, Wade’s girlfriend told responding officers upon their arrival in the vicinity that he had reportedly attacked her and that he was sleeping in the hotel with their son.

Patrol police found the boy, Isaiah Gaston, unresponsive in a motel room along with his father, Wade. They rendered first aid to the boy while waiting for the Long Beach Fire Department crew. The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment, but he died shortly after.

According to authorities, homicide investigators then found evidence that Wade inflicted severe bodily injury on the infant, which resulted in his death.

The coroner’s office determined the cause of the boy’s death as multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries.

He was being held on a bond of $2 million
