SWAT team responded after a man threatened his partner with a gun
Long Beach, California – A report of a person threatened with a weapon has drawn a SWAT team in response to the vicinity of West 20th Street and Cedar Avenue in the Wrigley area of Long Beach.
The man who allegedly pointed a handgun at his partner and fled to a nearby house on Sunday afternoon was arrested after police called in a SWAT team.
The suspect’s partner told authorities she was hit by her partner after they had an argument. He then held her at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.
According to Long Beach Police Department officials, officers secured the area around the residence as they negotiated the surrender of the suspect. As their efforts failed to yield results, the SWAT team was called to the scene. The suspect was arrested approximately two hours after the arrival of the SWAT team.
The 23-year-old Long Beach resident was taken into custody on charges of inflicting corporal injury, making death threats and assault with a deadly weapon.
According to authorities, the investigation is still underway, and his bail has been set at $50,000.
