10-month-old girl hospitalized; Father entered not guilty plea to a child abuse charge
Costa Mesa, California – The father of a newborn girl who was only 10 months old when she was found to have consumed an unknown substance in Costa Mesa and was hospitalized as a result of the incident was arrested and charged with child abuse on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Jovany Armando Encisosolorio entered a not guilty plea to the felony count of child abuse. He also denied a sentence enhancement for inflicting serious bodily injury on a child less than five years old.
Encisosolorio is scheduled to appear in court on July 7 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
It is still not clear what the baby consumed, and authorities will come up with information as soon as the results of crime lab tests arrive.
The baby was unresponsive when found and was immediately taken to a hospital. According to the latest known information, the baby is now in stable condition.
The father, Encisosolorio, is a known felon to authorities who has committed several crimes in the past.
