Long Beach, California – Adriana Silva, 36, was shot and killed on Monday morning in front of her workplace in the California Heights neighborhood of Long Beach. A man from Paramount was arrested on Wednesday in connection with Silva’s homicide.

The 47-year-old Jose Luis Vidal is charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting that occurred earlier this week. A judge on Wednesday decided to increase Vidal’s bail from $2 million to $3 million in his absence.

According to the police report, the victim arrived at her place of employment in the 700 block of East Wardlow Road at around 8 a.m. on Monday. She was approached by Vidal and shot while inside her vehicle. She was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect was nowhere to be found when they responded to the crime scene, but he surrendered himself later in Paramount.

The motive for the murder remains unknown, but police said they were in a relationship and had allegedly lately been experiencing problems.
