Woman and a 16-year-old bystander wounded after argument escalated and man opened fire
Long Beach, California – The Long Beach Police Department said that a 16-year-old boy found himself in the middle of an argument between a man and a woman while walking along 10th Street and ended up being shot when the man opened fire after the argument escalated.
The unfortunate incident occurred near Wilson High School in the 4000 block of East 10th Street around 9 a.m. Monday
Long Beach Police Department spokesman Brandon Fahey said the woman got into an argument with the man outside her home. Authorities think the involved parties knew each other but did not reveal more information about their relationship or dispute.
The woman was wounded when the man opened fire after the argument escalated, as was the boy, who was not directly involved and was only passing by in the area.
The shooter fled the scene after the shooting, and the suspect’s description was not released by police.
The victims were taken to a hospital for treatment, and the most recent information says that they are both expected to live because their condition is stable.
The incident remains under investigation as police are trying to establish a motive.
