Long Beach Airport expands West Coast travel options with new nonstop service to Seattle and Portland
Long Beach, California – Travelers flying through Long Beach Airport (LGB) now have more options to reach the Pacific Northwest after the launch of new daily nonstop Southwest Airlines service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Portland International Airport (PDX).
City officials say the new routes strengthen the airport’s expanding flight network while giving both residents and visitors additional convenient travel choices along the West Coast.
The added service increases connectivity from Long Beach Airport, which currently offers flights to 21 nonstop destinations and access to nearly 400 one-stop connections worldwide.
Mayor Rex Richardson welcomed the expanded service, saying the additional routes support the city’s long-term vision for welcoming more visitors.
“We’re excited to welcome these new Southwest flights to Seattle and Portland, offering travelers even more reasons to choose Long Beach as their airport of choice,” Richardson said. “By strengthening our already growing network of routes, we are further positioning ourselves to welcome the world in 2028.”
New daily flights connect Long Beach with the Pacific Northwest
According to the airport, Southwest Airlines’ new schedule includes daily nonstop service between Long Beach and both Seattle and Portland.
Flights departing Long Beach for Seattle leave at 11:25 a.m. and arrive at 2:05 p.m.
The return flight from Seattle to Long Beach departs at noon and arrives at 2:55 p.m.
Passengers traveling between Long Beach and Portland also have daily nonstop service. Flights from Long Beach depart at 1 p.m. and land in Portland at 3:20 p.m., while return flights leave Portland at noon and arrive in Long Beach at 2:25 p.m.
Tickets for the new routes are now available through the airport.
To celebrate the inaugural day of service, Long Beach Airport organized special activities for travelers arriving and departing on the new flights.
Passengers were welcomed with live music through the airport’s LGB Live! entertainment series, while local restaurants Boathouse on the Bay and 4th Street Vine provided complimentary coffee.
Travelers also received commemorative airport-themed items and collectible stickers marking the launch of the new routes.
Incoming passengers received another surprise as the Aquarium of the Pacific donated complimentary admission tickets to help welcome visitors arriving in Long Beach.
Airport Director Cynthia Guidry said the new flights provide travelers with greater flexibility while continuing to offer the airport’s well-known customer experience.
“We’re excited to see even more opportunities for travelers to fly between Long Beach and the Pacific Northwest,” Guidry said. “These new nonstop flights to Seattle and Portland provide residents and visitors with more ways to explore the West Coast, while enjoying the easy, welcoming experience that has made LGB a favorite among travelers.”
The expansion of Pacific Northwest service will continue later this year.
Beginning Sept. 8, 2026, Alaska Airlines is scheduled to introduce twice-daily nonstop flights to Seattle, further increasing travel options between Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.
Together, Southwest’s newly introduced routes and Alaska Airlines’ return to Seattle service are expected to provide passengers with greater scheduling flexibility and additional nonstop choices.
