Police investigating after woman found fatally shot

Commerce, California – According to police, a woman was fatally shot on Saturday in an unincorporated area near Commerce.

According to Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the junction of Garfield Avenue and Telegraph Road north of the 5 Freeway at around 1:24 a.m. on Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman on the ground with what looked like gunshot wounds on her body.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

No additional information regarding the shooting or a possible suspect has been released at this moment.

An investigation into this shooting incident is ongoing.
