Traffic stop in Long Beach led to the arrest of a man for multiple offences

Long Beach, California – A regular traffic stop conducted in the South Wrigley area by Long Beach police officers led to the arrest of a man who was determined to be in possession of a stolen weapon and drugs.

Authorities said the driver was pulled over in the 1900 block of Magnolia Avenue for driving without a license plate and blocking traffic. At the moment the driver was pulled over, officers spotted a child in the vehicle, and the driver told them he was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license.

The 27-year-old, Michael Anthony Jaquez, started being aggressive towards the officers who were trying to detain him, eventually resulting in his arrest. After police searched his car, they found a loaded gun that had been reported stolen, methamphetamine, and other drugs.

According to authorities, Jaquez was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, willful cruelty to a child, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.

Following Jaquez’s arrest, the child’s family was notified and asked to come pick them up. Information about the child’s connection with Jaquez was not provided.
