Saturday night wrong-way crash on 605 Freeway fatal for one person, police

Norwalk, California – Saturday night wrong-way crash on 605 Freeway was fatal for one person, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

According to the incident report, the fatal crash took place around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday on the southbound 605 Freeway just north of Alondra Boulevard.

Per the first responders, a vehicle driving the wrong way caused the fatal incident.

The California Highway Patrol said that a sedan was driving northbound on the southbound side of the freeway when it collided head-on with a truck coming from the other direction. The driver of the sedan went through the windshield and suffered fatal injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The local authorities didn’t say if people in the other vehicle sustained injuries in the crash.

The southbound lanes 4 and 5 and the Alondra off-ramp were closed while authorities were investigating the scene and crews were working to clear the road.
