8 people injured, including a firefighter, after a fire broke out in a single-story home

Two people sustained life-threatening injuries in a fire in a South Los Angeles home on Monday, and one firefighter was treated in a hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out at a home located at 963 W. 43rd Place. Additionally, five other people sustained injuries as a result of the fire and received treatment at the scene.

According to reports, crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department were sent to the scene at around 8:55 a.m.

According to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department, “Firefighters found a large single-family home with the fire showing and heavy pressurized smoke coming from the vents.”

“Crews ascended ladders to ventilate the roof, as companies made entry with hose lines to fight the fire from the interior.”

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
