Single-vehicle crash in Lynwood left one dead and two injured
Lynwood, California – Lynwood police say a car went off the side of a freeway embankment early Monday morning, killing one man and injuring two others.
A four-door BMW drove off the 105 Freeway near Long Beach Blvd. around 1:15 a.m., crashed through a concrete wall, and rolled down an embankment several times before coming to a stop on a surface road below.
Responding crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department declared one of the occupants in the vehicle dead at the scene, while one of the two injured people was transported to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
The identities of the man killed in the crash as well as those of the injured were not released.
Since the road was not safe for traffic, authorities decided to shut off the area between Fernwood Avenue and Lynwood Road and summoned CalTrans crews to the scene to repair the damage caused as a result of the crash.
