18th fatal shooting by LAPD recorded after officers killed a man in Eagle Rock

Los Angeles, California – Los Angeles police fatally shot a man in Eagle Rock on Sunday night.

According to LAPD officer Art Rodriguez and Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart, the incident took place around 6 p.m. near the junction of Broadway and Glendale Avenue.

The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital where he was taken for treatment.

According to Rodriguez, the fire department requested assistance from the LAPD.

According to authorities, the man had a knife and was not following instructions. He was shot by police at the moment he approached one of the officers. Detectives discovered a knife at the scene.

Eighteen of the 38 recorded police shootings in 2021 were fatal, including this one.
