Teenager killed in a fatal shooting at a Long Beach housing complex

Long Beach, California – An incident where a person was killed after being shot on Friday night in Long Beach on a basketball court at the Carmelitos public housing complex is now being investigated by police.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the location after receiving reports of a shooting around 9:25 p.m. When the police arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Unfortunately, they died at the scene.

The area was closed off with police tape as authorities were conducting an investigation.

The victim was said to be a male teenager, but neither his identity nor his exact age were revealed.

According to the latest known information, officers detained a person of interest.
