Long Beach fire crews extinguished a Belmont Heights home fire

Long Beach, California – Firefighters said a large fire that broke out in a Belmont Heights home on Wednesday afternoon caused moderate damage to the home.

Neighbors in the 500 block of Grand Avenue called the Long Beach Fire Department when they saw a fire inside a home near Fremont Elementary School. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived quickly.

According to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin, when firefighters arrived at the site at 2:06 p.m., they encountered “heavy smoke and heavy fire” coming from the left side of the residence and the attic, which they extinguished. According to Heflin, the LBFD was able to put out the fire in approximately 14 minutes.

Heflin added that there were no recorded injuries. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
