LACoFD named a female captain in charge of PIO
Los Angeles County, California – The Los Angeles County Fire Department announced Friday that the first female captain would take over as the head of the department’s public information office today following the promotion of Ron Haralson to the rank of Battalion Chief.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials are sure Captain Sheila Kelliher will be up to the task because of her wealth of experience and knowledge gained through her year-long service to the county.
In her 22 years of county service, Captain Kelliher has been actively involved in a number of programs that the fire department’s Community Outreach, Recruitment, Diversity, and Inclusion Section has organized.
Kelliher earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication from Texas A&M University. Her latest position was at Fire Station 125 in Calabasas.
According to a statement released by the fire department, “When Captain Kelliher is not on the job, she is a devoted wife and mother to 11-year-old twins; daughter, Marley, and son, Maximus. With five gold medals won in previous World Police & Fire Games events, she is also a competitive athlete who enjoys playing golf, bodybuilding and weight training.”
